Indian power company Tata Power has completed the acquisition of an unnamed 30MW wind farm in the Sangli District of Maharashtra.
The Mumbai-based outfit said the purchase from Indo Rama Renewables brings its total onshore wind capacity in India to 647MW. The project has been in operation since 2013.
Chief executive Rahul Shah said the company has an “aggressive” 20GW capacity target for 2025 up to 40% of which it hopes to source from renewables.
“This acquisition of the 30MW operational wind farm will enhance and increase its clean energy footprint,” he said.
“As a Company, we are seeking similar opportunities to acquire operating wind and solar plants, apart from our own organic growth pipeline, to rapidly grow our generation portfolio.”
