Senvion has launched its 3.4M140 onshore wind turbine in the North American market with hub heights of 110 and 130 metres to be available from 2018.
The German turbine manufacturer said the hardware is its highest yield turbine in its onshore division and unveiled the US move at the AWEA Windpower 2016 annual conference in New Orleans.
Senvion is offering longer 68 metre blades to target increased yields at low wind locations with possible sound restrictions in forested and mountainous areas, it said.
The company’s North America chief executive Helmut Herold said: “With this new wind turbine, Senvion is committed to adapt its most innovative technology to the North American requirements.
“By offering the Senvion 3.4M140, with longer rotor blades that can be operated even more profitably and cost-efficiently at great heights, Senvion is offering a solution to make low-wind locations more profitable.”
The turbine model was first announced for the European market in September last year.
