Tata Power has won authorisation to develop two 50MW solar parks in southwestern India.
The projects will be built at the Pavagada solar complex in the Tumkur district of Karnataka state, the company said.
Tata Power Renewable Energy has received the letter of Intent to develop the facilities and will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam.
The projects were awarded under India’s Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, specifically in the second batch of phase two.
“Tata Power is delighted at this project win as it further fortifies our vision of generating 30-40% of the company’s total generation capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2025,” Tata Power chief executive Anil Sardana said.
