UK building society Nationwide will buy the electricity generated at Baywa’s 45MW Vine Farm solar park in England.
The lender has signed a long-term power purchase agreement with the German developer to buy the power at a fixed price for 15 years, Baywa said.
SSE will buy the solar park’s renewable obligation certificates, it said.
The Vine Farm facility, located south of Cambridge, generates enough power for about 11,500 households.
“I’m delighted with the agreement we have in place with BayWa,” said Nationwide divisional director for branch & workplace transformation Jenny Groves. “By increasing the amount of renewable electricity we’re using, we’re able to continue to ensure we’re doing our bit to manage the environmental impact of our activities and run the Society in a responsible way.”
