The first of three 100kW Nova M100 turbines at the Shetland Tidal Array is fully operational and exporting power to the grid following testing.
Scottish tidal technology company Nova Innovation and Belgian joint venture partner Elsa installed the unit in February in Bluemull Sound.
They will now look to deploy the second and third turbines.
Nova managing director Simon Forrest said: “Completing the first phase of commissioning is an important milestone for the project and our company.”
