Mainstream Renewable Power Chile has received environmental approval for the 264MW Cerro Tigre wind farm near the town of Antofagasta in the north of the South American country.
The $630m project will consist of 80 wind turbines and builds on two other projects totalling 300MW that will start construction soon.
The latter are the Sarco project in Atacama and the Aurora wind farm in the Los Lagos region.
Mainstream Renewable Power Chile chief executive officer Bart Doyle said: “We are a company that develops its own projects and we are always looking for new opportunities for solar and wind energy developments, and the Region of Antofagasta has important attributes that enable this.”
