Enel Green Power RSA has grid connected the 82.5MW Paleisheuwel solar power plant in South Africa’s Western Cape province.
Paleisheuwel is Enel’s largest solar plant in South Africa and is supported by a 20-year power supply agreement with utility Eskom.
The PPA is part of the country’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) tender promoted by the South African government.
EGP RSA currently owns and operates the 10MW Upington solar plant in the Northern Cape, and has a further 430MW of projects under construction.
The projects under construction are the 82.5MW Adams, 82.5MW Pulida and 66MW Tom Burke solar plants and the 88MW Nojoli and 111MW Gibson Bay wind farms.
Enel was also awarded a further five wind projects for a total capacity of 705MW following the fourth phase of REIPPPP tender.
