Moventas has launched an extra life maintenance programme for Siemens 2.3MW turbines which feature the Winergy 4456 gearbox.
The Finish company will unveil the scheme today All-Energy 2016 in Glasgow. It will feature upgrades, replacements, up-tower servicing and spares.
Moventas said it has re-engineered the Winergy gearbox and will offer the service to the Siemens 2.3MW fleet in Europe and North America.
The engineering company said it can fix and prevent planet bearing failures or other types of gearbox issue.
A number of repairs and up-tower jobs have already been completed, Moventas added, and all components for the gearbox can be sourced or repaired.
“The extra life is about harnessing Moventas’ 35-years of wind gearbox experience for popular fleets that are coming to service age,” it said.
“The methods Moventas has developed remove known premature failure modes to extend gearbox lifetime, providing carefree extra years for older fleets.”
