Minesto has struck a deal with Subsea Riser Products (SRP) to use the bottom joint system Rocksteady on its Deep Green tidal kite.
The supply agreement includes a version of the SRP device which will act as a locking mechanism between Deep Green’s tether and the seabed foundations.
Rocksteady comes in two parts, one is integrated in the foundations and the other to the tether with both parts joined by a locking device.
It will also contain a bearing required by Minesto to give the tidal kite full mobility, the Swedish company said.
“With Rocksteady, we get a product that is fully offshore certified, built for a service life of at least 25 years, while the design of the system allows for cost-effective operation and maintenance,” said Minesto chief executive Martin Edlund.
“An important argument for why we chose Rocksteady is quality assurance. It has a proven performance and is verified in actual use.”
Delivery is scheduled for quarter one next year.
