GE’s renewable energy business made a $83m profit in the first quarter of 2016, a 46% increase on the $57m profit in the first three months of last year.
Revenues from renewables were up 62% at $1.7bn in the period compared with $1bn in 2015.
Renewable energy orders grew 88%, with about 1.6GW for onshore wind alone, the company said.
Overall, GE’s revenues were almost $28bn, up 6% on the same period last year, while operating profit was down 7% at $3.3bn.
GE chairman and chief executive officer Jeff Immelt said: “We are already seeing valuable synergies from the Alstom acquisition.
“GE is executing well and is on track to meet its investor goals for 2016.”
