Offshore Marine Management (OMM) is launching a fleet of dedicated fast response vessels to carry personnel, equipment and stores in emergency situations at offshore wind farms.
The company said the total number of offshore incidents in European offshore wind markets is projected to continue growing because of increased construction with yearlong project programmes.
The vessels have maximum speeds of 48 knots and have been modified to improve the response times to emergencies offshore and improve QHSE standards.
They will be operated by two ex-military crew members with one boat handling and one medical staff/boat handler with relevant professional backgrounds, OMM said.
The company added that the vessels can also be used for less critical situations, such as the delivery of up to 500kg of critical components and/or up to six passengers.
OMM managing director Rob Grimmond said: “The industry needs to be prepared in an emergency and this new offering demonstrates OMM’s key role in UK-based innovation as well as our uncompromising commitment to health and safety of personnel offshore.”
