Orkney’s European Marine Energy Centre has appointed Andy Shanks and Florence Ungaro as project managers.
Shanks is a former marine operations director for Tidal Generation Ltd’s 500kW tidal turbine, later setting up and commissioning Minesto’s test site in Northern Ireland’s Strangford Lough.
France-born Ungaro’s previous roles include maintenance engineer for wind and solar projects in China. Ungaro returned to France last year for a masters degree in marine renewable energy and an internship designing a wave energy converter.
EMEC has also appointed a new technical manager, Elaine Buck, previously business development manager with the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult based at EMEC.
Meanwhile, Donna Ritch has been promoted to finance director from her previous role as finance and administration manager.
