Vestas is in line to supply 600MW of turbines to a proposed Xcel Energy wind farm in eastern Colorado.
The US company unveiled plans to use 300 of the Danish suppliers machines at the project, which has yet to be approved.
Xcel promised to use hardware built at the Vestas nacelle factory in Brighton, Colorado, during a visit to the facility on Tuesday.
Vestas confirmed it had entered into “a conditional agreement to supply wind turbines for a 600MW project in the USA” but provided no other details.
“If and when the project translates into a firm and unconditional order . . . Vestas will disclose a company announcement about this,” it said.
Xcel is expected to file paperwork for the unnamed wind farm with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission for approval in May. Construction is not expected until 2017.
