Lightsource Renewable Energy has boosted its operations and maintenance services in the UK solar sector.
The company said the tractor-mounted Lightsource Panel Cleaning System for PV panel cleaning, aka the Clean Machine (pictured), is 10-times faster than conventional hand washing.
“Dirty panels can reduce module performance by up to 30%,” said Lightsource.
The system uses pressurised sprays of water and a rotating brush head to wash away mud, dirt and grime from solar panels, it added, and can be adapted for use on a variety of machines and locations.
Head of operations Teresa Bristol said: “With an ever-growing portfolio of solar assets, it is essential that we explore new ways to improve efficiencies in our grounds-maintenance processes and offer best value to clients.”
The system meets TUV standards and was the subject of extensive testing.
