Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners has landed a deal with Facebook to power the social networking giant’s under-construction Clonee data centre in Ireland.
The Canadian investment outfit said today that it will power the County Meath facility with 150MW of onshore wind over the next 10 years.
Brookfield has an operating wind portfolio of over 465MW across Ireland with a number of other projects totalling up to 200MW in development.
The company’s managing partner Ralf Rank said: “With over 10,000MW of operating hydro and wind capacity and a 7000MW renewable development pipeline globally, we are uniquely positioned to offer consumers long-term, carbon-free renewable power and price stability as we work toward combatting climate change.
“We are pleased to have Facebook as our first retail customer in Ireland and welcome the opportunity to work with a corporate leader focused on increasing the use of renewable power.”
