Mitsui & Co, Komaihaltec and Fuji Electric have completed a feasibility study, implemented a pilot wind power project and smart-grid system in eastern Russia.
The project, at the town of Ust-Kamchatsk, is being carried out in cooperation with Russian state-owned power company RAO Energy Systems of East.
It was completed in 2015 and started operating in January.
The project consists of three 300kW turbines and a grid stabilization system.
Mitsui, Komaihaltec and Fuji Electric will conduct the one-year demo to verify specifications for cold climate-resistant turbines and test the micro-grid system.
The aim is to ensure the smooth operation and interconnection between the wind power plant, existing diesel station and heat generation facilities.
The project also aims to verify the system’s effect on power and heat balance.
