GCube Underwriting now insures more than 1GW of Irish onshore wind after closing a number of deals this year.
The specialist renewables insurance outfit said today it also underwrites some 300MW of wind being developed by Irish companies overseas.
GCube insures around 40 wind farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland including a number of assets under construction.
It offers construction and operation risk plans as well as coverage for specific liability, transit and cargo policies.
“Irish wind energy is a success story – not just because of its achievements within the competitive domestic electricity market, but also as a result of a capacity to export its experience and lessons learnt internationally,” said GCube senior underwriter Phil Pavey.
“As Irish wind proliferates around the globe, safeguarding its reputation as a bankable, investment-grade asset at home and abroad with market-specific insurance support will be a key part of cementing this growth.”
