Vestas has kicked off turbine installation work at the 310MW Lake Turkana wind farm in Kenya
The Danes have so far installed the tower and lifted the nacelle into place on the first turbine.
However, Vestas said high winds are hampering completion of the first unit. Winds are currently averaging 18 to 20 metres a second and are delaying rotor lifts.
Vestas said the wind will need to drop below 10m/s before it can complete the installation.
The manufacturer is supplying, installing and commissioning 365 V52 850kW units.
Commissioning is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2017.
