US developer Tradewind Energy is exploring the viability of a 300MW wind farm in Kansas.
“The Diamond Vista project is in its earliest stages,” Tradewind senior development director Brice Barton told reNEWS.
The Lenexa-based developer has requested permits for six meteorological towers to help determine project feasibility.
“As proposed, the project could support 300MW,” said Barton. Size and number of turbines have yet to be determined.
The Diamond Vista scheme is located mainly in Marion County in central Kansas. The transmission lines would run into a substation in neighboring Dickinson County.
“The project could potentially be ready for construction in 2017 or 2018,” said Barton.
