Renewables outfit Enel Green Power (EGP) has joined the board of Ocean Energy Europe.
The Italian company is currently developing wave energy projects and technologies in addition to its wind and solar activities.
It has also been selected by the Chilean development organisation Corporación de Fomento de la Producción to set up an international centre of excellence on ocean energy alongside DCNS.
Ocean Energy Europe’s CEO Rémi Gruet said: “Enel Green Power are one of the most experienced renewable energy developers in the world, and we are very pleased to see them taking a leading role in the industry.
“Their involvement adds to the growing credibility of the ocean energy industry as the next key player in the electricity market, and puts Italy firmly on the ocean energy map.”
