County regulators have turned down Juhl Energy’s plan to build the 20MW Davison wind project in South Dakota.
Davison County commissioners voted four to one to deny conditional use permits for up to 11 turbines over property value and setback concerns. Juhl had proposed setbacks greater than 1000 feet.
The developer had planned to sell the output to utility Northwestern Energy for 20 to 25 years, according to regulatory filings.
GE was lined up to supply turbines for the $40m project, said Juhl.
