Enel Green Power has been awarded the rights to build 326MW of renewable energy projects in a tender by the government of Peru.
The Italian company plans to construct the 126MW Nazca wind farm, the 180MW Rubi solar array and 20MW Ayanunga hydro project with timelines focused on delivery in 2018.
EGP will invest around $400m in the developments and will sell electricity produced under a 20-year power purchase deal with energy regulator Osinergmin.
“This tender marks Enel Green Power’s entrance into Peru, confirming the success of our growth strategy in Latin America,” said EGP chief executive Francesco Venturini.
“These results also illustrate how renewable energy can be competitive with traditional generation even in geographies where its development is still in the early stages.”
