Dong Energy has exported first power from its 252MW Gode Wind 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
Energisation of the first Siemens 6MW turbines this week coincides with the start of 10 weeks of trial operations at TenneT’s delayed 916MW transmission hub.
A2Sea vessel Sea Challenger has erected all 42 Siemens turbines at the project.
The remaining machines at the 97-turbine 582MW Gode Wind 1 & 2 complex are scheduled to be up this summer.
In-water construction of Gode Wind 2 started in April 2015.
The project is 50% owned by a consortium of Danish pension funds including PCA, Industriens Pension, Pension and Lærernes Lægernes.
Both projects, located some 33km North of Norderney island, are slated to be fully commissioned later this year.
