Carnegie Wave Energy has started its Mauritius wave and microgrid design project.
The project will deliver three outcomes: a renewable energy roadmap for Mauritius; an assessment of the island’s wave energy potential; and design a microgrid desalination plant on the Mauritian island of Rodrigues.
The company will receive an A$800,000 grant through a partnership between the Australian and Mauritian governments and will also contribute A$190,000 to the project.
The project kicked off this week with the first steering committee meeting in Mauritius. The meeting signed off the management plan for the project.
A meeting of key stakeholders has also taken place.
