AMSC made a loss of $3m in the third quarter of fiscal 2015, which ended on 31 December, down from $6.4m in the same period last year.
The company said the loss includes a gain of $2.5m realized from its sale of a minority equity interest in Blade Dynamics.
Revenues were $25.8m, up form $21.2m in the third quarter of 2014.
“The year over year growth in revenues was a result of strength in both our wind and grid businesses,” the company said.
AMSC said it expects revenues in the fourth quarter ending 31 March will be in the range of $18m to $22m.
The net loss for the fourth quarter is expected to be less than $8.5m.
AMSC president and chief executive officer Daniel McGahn said: “We delivered in excess of 20% year-over-year revenue growth, including shipping a record number of ECS to Inox and generating the highest D-VAR revenues in nearly three years.
“In addition, we achieved the highest quarterly gross margin in more than four years, and generated cash during the quarter as well.”
