Indian turbine manufacturer Suzlon has received letters of intent from state utility owner, the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana state, for six solar projects with a total capacity of 210MW.
Suzlon will be the developer and engineering, procurement and construction provider for the solar plants in the state, the capital of which is Hyderabad.
The company won the projects through a competitive bidding process. The six sites are located across the state and include one of 100MW, one of 50MW and four of 15MW and will be commissioned during the 2016-17 financial year.
They will be built under six different special purpose vehicles, one of which is a subsidiary of Suzlon. The other five have been purchased by acquiring a 100% shareholding.
Suzlon will sign six PPAs this month with the state utilities for a 25 year period.
Suzlon Energy chief executive Rohit Modi said: “We look forward to sustaining our growth in the solar sector. This 210MW project will reinforce our commitment to execute tangible capacities in solar energy every year while expanding our footprint. Suzlon will develop these projects on a turnkey basis.”
Mr. Tulsi Tanti, Chairman, Suzlon Group said, “Solar and wind are complementary, hence we will leverage our project execution capabilities and end-to-end solutions to deliver solar projects.
“We are also working on integrated renewable energy solutions by combining wind and solar projects at a single location.”
