Appalachian Power is looking for parties to bid on a Request for Proposal for up to 150MW of wind power.
The US company has issued pre-qualification documents for the RFP which looks for proposals that would allow Appalachian to own one or more wind projects or buy wind power under one or more 20-year renewable energy purchase agreements.
The forms must be submitted by January 29 and pre-qualified bidders will be notified by February 12, the same day they are expected to receive the RFP. Final proposals are due on April 1.
Wind projects chosen by Appalachian through the RFP process will be reviewed for regulatory approval by the Virginia State Corporation Commission and the Public Service Commission of West Virginia.
All projects must be located within Virginia, West Virginia, eastern Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio or Pennsylvania, be interconnected to the PJM Regional Transmission Operator and have a minimum nameplate rating of 40 MW. The project must be commercially operational by December 31 2017.
Application forms and additional information can be found here.
Appalachian currently purchases generation from a total of 375MW of wind projects within PJM.
