Enel Green Power has connected to the grid the first 20MW of its 97MW Carrera Pinto solar plant in Atacama in Chile.
The remaining 77MW are expected to be completed and enter into service by the second half of 2016.
EGP is investing approximately $180m in the construction of Carrera Pinto.
The project is financed through the Enel Green Power Group’s own resources and is supported by a long-term power purchase agreement.
The plant is owned by Parque Solar Carrera Pinto, which is a subsidiary of Enel Green Power Chile.
EGP has also started building the 112MW Sierra Gorda wind farm in the Chilean region of Antofagasta.
The $215m project is expected to be completed and enter into service by the end of 2016.
