German wind energy association WAB has named Andreas Wellbrock to become its new managing director. He will take up this new role on 1 June 2016.
He will take over from interim managing director Urs Wahl, who stepped in after Ronny Meyer left the post earlier this year. Meyer now acts as secretary of state for environmental affairs in the federal state of Bremen.
“With Wellbrock, WAB gains a new managing director who is highly qualified and well established in the sector,” said WPD executive and WAB chairman Klaus Meier.
Wellbrock is an economics engineer and has been a board member at the BLG logistics group in Bremen since 2013, where he set up an offshore logistics department.
More than 350 companies and institutes in the North-West region of Germany are associated with the WAB network. WAB has also been active as a lobbying group in negotiations between the offshore wind industry and the federal government in Berlin.
