US Wind continues to negotiate turbine supply with two vendors for the 750MW Maryland offshore wind project, managing director Paul Rich told reNEWS.
“Things are moving forward” and the developer hopes to finalize a deal as soon as possible, said Rich.
The proponent also aims to submit an offshore renewable energy certificate application to state regulators by the end of December. Maryland has a 250MW offshore wind carve-out to help finance development through ORECs.
The proponent recently filed a site assessment plan to the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.
US Wind hopes to receive federal approval by March 2016 and install a meteorological tower next summer. Louisiana-based Keystone Engineering is designing a met mast monopile foundation.
Construction of a 250MW first phase is slated to start in fall 2017 with operation to begin in 2019.
