Spanish wind manufacturer Norvento has set a new weekly generation record for its nED100 100kW turbine at Portfield Gate in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Between November 30 and December 6, the turbine yield was over 12,600kWh, an average of 1800kWh a day, equivalent to the turbine operating at rated power for 18 hours a day.
The company said the turbine also showed its reliability by performing at over 99% availability during the windiest week of the year.
Since its commissioning last month, the turbine at Portfield Gate has yielded 27,000kWh in just 18 days beating the previous record set at Slagnaw Farm in late 2014.
Meanwhile, the company will set another new record by securing installation of a 100kW site at Clackmae Farm in the Scottish borders just one month after grid connection was secured, a record for the UK.
The installation will start on 7 December and is expected to be completed by the end of the month. The quick turnaround means the project is eligible for the current FiT rate without needing pre-accreditation.
Norvento director Ivo Arnus said: “A proven strategy for development, as well as an ability to respond promptly to available opportunities has allowed Norvento to succeed in the UK, and we hope to see this pattern continue.”
