Widnes-based manufacturer Hutchinson Engineering’s 49-meter high turbine tower has been delivered to a single-turbine wind farm in Fife, Scotland.
The 42-tonne tower was commissioned by Italian turbine maker ATB Riva Calzoni on behalf of wind farm developer Spectrum Energy Systems of Worksop. The tower took three months to construct.
The 12-hour journey north by road by wind turbine transport specialists Collett involved travelling via the M6/M74 corridor with police escorts along the whole route.
Hutchinson business development director Neal Scrivener said: “This is the biggest tower we have ever built and the logistics required to send it to Fife made it an incredible project to be involved with.
“The move went remarkably well, considering its size.”
