Prysmian Group has recently completed the successful testing on its 66kV complete submarine cable system.
The company said the tested solution – that includes also factory, field joints and click-fit terminations – combined EPR insulation with wet design and aluminium conductors (copper conductors are also available).
The tests were carried out according to CIGRE and IEC testing protocols.
“The success in the qualification of its 66kV system will provide the necessary confidence to offshore wind developers to step the intra-array system voltage up from the typical 33 kV to 66 kV,” Prysmian said.
The company has three production facilities dedicated to submarine cables, situated in Arco Felice in Italy, Pikkala in Finland and Drammen in Norway.
It has two installation vessels, Giulio Verne and the recently upgraded Cable Enterprise, together with cable protection equipment and specialised operations teams.
