SSE posted a significant boost to renewable generation in the first half of the year on the back of wet and windy weather in its core markets.
Output in the UK and Ireland rose to 3163GWh in the six months to September from 2337GWh in the same period of 2014, with onshore and offshore wind up around 50% and hydro up by around 25%.
The company said it has 441MW of new projects in construction onshore in the UK and in line to meet the Renewables Obligation deadline of end-March 2017 with 472MW holding consent.
SSE warned that there remains a “degree of uncertainty as regards the future policy framework” for renewables projects not yet scheduled.
It said the timing and substance of the next Contracts for Difference allocation round would have particular “implications” for onshore, offshore and Scottish islands wind.
The company continues its asset optimisation programme through the sale of operational and in-development onshore wind projects.
SSE’s total operating profit for the six months was £702m, up from £530m in the year-ago period.
