EDP Renewables North America has dusted off plans for a second wind farm in Paulding County, Ohio.
The developer proposes to build the Timber Road 1 and 3 projects near the 99MW Timber Road 2 wind farm, which became operational in 2011 and features 55 Vestas V100 1.8MW turbines.
The Ohio Power Siting Board certificated the two expansion schemes in 2010 and 2011, authorizing combined capacity of 99MW and up to 60 turbines. Regulators have agreed to extend the construction deadline to 2018.
EDP unveiled transmission interconnection plans at a public meeting last week. An 8-mile 138kV line would tie into the American Electric Power 138 kV Lincoln-Sterling transmission circuit to supply electric energy to the PJM interstate grid.
The Portuguese developer told the board it intends to apply for permission to build the transmission facilities. Project construction could get underway in 2016.
