DeepOcean has been handed the contract to provide cable installation services and trenching works at Dong Energy’s 580MW Race Bank offshore wind farm.
The group will install and trench 91 inter array cables with a combined length of 106km as well as completing the associated route engineering, pre-lay grapnel run operations, installation of cable protection system and messenger wires.
The cables will be post-lay trenched by one of DeepOcean’s in-house trenching assets with offshore work slated to be undertaken in two campaigns – the first in Q3 of 2016 and the second in Q1 of 2017.
Dong’s Race Bank engineering, procurement and construction director David Summers said: “With the wind farm now into its construction phase, we are pleased to be able to call on experienced suppliers like DeepOcean for this important cable installation and trenching work.”
DeepOcean’s vice president Ottar Maeland added: “This is the second recent award from Dong in the renewables sector, demonstrating DeepOcean’s installation expertise across both export and inter-array cable sectors.”
