SeaRoc are one of the few companies that are currently working on the world’s furthest offshore wind farm developments.
The UK renewable energy company completed successful maintenance works of the met masts at Dogger Bank for Forewind in September.
The masts are 53 and 81 miles offshore and nine members of the SeaRoc crew, including riggers and engineers, were responsible for all maintenance tasks on the trip and advised on vessel and gangway suitability.
The crew were able to successfully complete its maintenance strategy and met specific challenges such as how to transfer people to the structures when further offshore.
SeaRoc project manager Neil Pittam said: “Carrying out works further offshore brings significant logistical, financial and additional health and safety risks, making detailed planning of the utmost importance.
“We devised a strategy which included facilitating a risk assessment and method statement session with all parties involved in the works, presenting sound operational solutions for the Dogger Bank maintenance visit, resulting in this particular work being completed ahead of schedule, minimising the costly vessel charter and personnel costs”.
