The Crown Estate plans to launch a competitive tender process this month for the Morgan offshore wind site in the Irish Sea.
The site has the potential to deliver up to 1.5GW of capacity, The Crown Estate said.
The Morgan project was originally brought to market through Offshore Wind Leasing Round 4 in 2021 but development was discontinued in January 2026, the organisation added.
The Crown Estate intends to appoint a new developer in late 2026.
Morgan secured a Development Consent Order for its generation assets in August 2025 and is awaiting a decision on transmission assets linked to the 480MW Morecambe offshore wind farm.
The transmission consent decision is expected in September.
The site currently has a grid connection agreement with the National Energy System Operator.
The tender process is separate from Leasing Round 6, which The Crown Estate plans to launch in the first half of 2027.

The Crown Estate said the site could provide enough electricity for up to 1.5 million homes and support thousands of jobs.
