Organisers of the WindEnergy Hamburg conference have postponed the event to December in response to COVID-19.
The biennial offshore and onshore industry powwow was due to take place in the German city 22-25 September but will now be pushed back to 1-4 December.
Hamburg Messe and Congress and WindEurope said the move will allow delegates and exhibitors a “more reliable basis for planning”.
“Unfortunately, it is currently difficult to predict the future development of Covid-19 and its consequences for large-scale international events planned for September 2020,” said Bernd Aufderheide, chief executive of the Hamburg-based group.
The organisers are also planning to adapt the event concept and include new digital formats.
WindEurope chief executive Giles Dickson said the get-together will come at the “perfect time” as Germany will hold the EU Presidency.
“The further expansion of wind energy is central to the Green Deal and will deliver jobs and investment needed for recovery,” he said.
