ABB has awarded a contract to detect unexploded ordnance (UXO) at the 309MW Rentel wind farm off the Belgian coast to local company G-tec.
The subsea specialist has performed a magnetometer survey on the nearshore part of the project’s cable route and at its landing point in Zeebrugge.
Both surveys included an innovative way of filtering background noise induced by human activities, it said.
The 42-turbine wind farm is scheduled to start generating electricity from mid-2018.
