Offshore turbine manufacturer Adwen has filed for construction permits with French authorities for two new factories in Le Havre.
The blade and nacelle factories will be used to supply components for the company’s 8MW offshore wind turbine.
The construction permits for the factories will take between 12 and 16 months to be decided. Installation works will take another year.
Adwen had initially hoped to have the sites up and running in late 2018, it is understood.
The factories will be erected at a 40-hectare compound where suppliers ABB and Moventas will also be setting up workshops.
Adwen is lined up to provide the wind turbines for the Ailes Marine’s 500MW Saint-Brieuc project and for LEM’s 500MW Noirmoutier and Tréport projects.
