Wiking Helikopter Service has taken delivery of the first of two Airbus H145 choppers, which will be used to service offshore wind farms in the North Sea.
The German company said the delivery marks the first time it’s added an Airbus product to its fleet, which already comprises another eight helicopters. The second Airbus aircraft is expected to be delivered in October, 2017.
Both helicopters will be used to drop off harbor pilots, fly air rescue missions and transport services technicians to wind farms.
The H145’s enhanced engine performance allows it to bear up to 200 kilograms more payload during winch operations, Wiking Helikopter said. It is capable of seating eight passengers for over-water use.
