Allseas has ordered a new-build heavy transport vessel to expand its fleet and strengthen its offshore wind capabilities.
The 40,000-tonne capacity ship, named Grand Tour, will be built at Guangzhou Shipyard International in China with delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2028.
The semi-submersible vessel is designed to fit within the bow slot of Allseas’ installation ship Pioneering Spirit, allowing large offshore structures to be transported and transferred for single-lift installation.
Allseas said the integrated solution will cut risk, streamline schedules and enhance reliability for clients.
The vessel will feature a 180-metre by 57-metre cargo deck, a methanol-ready 24MW propulsion system and an advanced ballast system capable of pumping 24,000 cubic metres per hour.
Grand Tour will play a key role in Allseas’ work on TenneT’s 2GW offshore wind programme, which will see 28GW of grid connections delivered in the Dutch and German North Sea by 2032.
“This addition to our fleet is more than an expansion – it’s a strategic investment that enhances our ability to deliver fully integrated transport and installation solutions for some of the world’s most ambitious offshore energy projects,” said project director Pieter Kambier.
Beyond offshore wind, the vessel will also support Allseas in fleet relocation and floating cargo markets.
