Shipbuilder Meyer Werft has been awarded the contract for the majority of the steel construction work for four Amprion converter platforms.
Amprion Offshore has commissioned Dragados Offshore and Siemens Energy to build the platforms.
The consortium has now outsourced parts of the production to Meyer Werft.
The scope of services for the production of platform components in the shipyard in Papenburg amounts to around 43,500 tonnes of steel.
Of this, around 32,000 tonnes are produced sections for the BalWin1 and BalWin2 projects.
For the offshore connections DolWin4 and BorWin4 it is around 11,500 tonnes.
“We are committed to increasing production capacity for building offshore components in Germany.
“We see the steel construction award to Meyer Werft as a positive signal for our offshore projects and therefore also for the Germany as a business location”, said Peter Barth, Managing Director of Amprion Offshore GmbH.
