Eon and Statoil have unveiled several contractors for the €1.2bn 385MW Arkona offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
Dutch company VBMS has won a contract to install 65 inter-array cables, while A2Sea is to install the 60 Siemens 6.4MW turbines.
VBMS said it will carry out route engineering, surveying, a pre-lay grapnel run, trenching, termination and testing of the 65 cables.
The work is set to start in 2018, following surveys scheduled for this year.
A2Sea will deploy its Sea Challenger offshore installation vessel for the turbine work, which is also scheduled for 2018.
VBMS managing director Arno van Poppel said: “After the successful cable installation for the Humber Gateway back in 2013 and the Rampion export cable installation scheduled for this year, we’re very pleased to continue our cooperation with Eon with this contract for Arkona.”
A2Sea chief executive officer Jens Frederik Hansen said: ” The contract cements A2Sea’s position in the installation market as a competent, serious contractor and our experienced crew both onshore and offshore is ready for yet another seamless, well-positioned and safe operation.”
The wind farm is scheduled to be fully commissioned in 2019.
