Specialist Marine Consultants (SMC) has secured a contract from Siemens to provide marine coordination at Northland Power’s 600MW Gemini offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.
The UK company will us using its Atlas system for the job. It tracks and records vessels and personnel working offshore.
Earlier this week, lead contractor Van Oord installed the first Siemens 4MW turbine at the project. Gemini will feature 150 machines some 85km off Groningen with full power due in spring 2017.
SMC Managing Director Ian Coates said: “Atlas has been developed to work from an offshore base, which gives a strategic advantage to project stakeholders onshore, giving them an immediate snapshot of the critical aspects of construction.”
