Germany-based company Bachmann Monitoring is analysing 22% of new offshore wind turbines installed in 2015 in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea.
The company said 546 offshore turbines were connected to the grid last year, bringing the overall total to 792.
Its condition monitoring systems have been equipped to all 80 turbines at the 400MW Global Tech I offshore wind farm off the Lower-Saxony North Sea coast and 40 units in the first expansion of Trianel’s Borkum project.
Condition monitoring continuously measures and analyses physical variables, such as vibration, in the turbine and provides all the information required to detect the risk of failures and to plan maintenance work.
Bachmann Monitoring Technologies Development department head Ulrich Oertel said: “We are planning the fitting of further products for 2016. This includes, for example, the extension of the conventional power train CMS and structure monitoring.”
