Equinor and the Polenergia Group have submitted an application for a permit for the grid assets for the Baltyk 1 offshore wind project off Poland.
The partners are filing for the permit ahead of a 2025 auction.
The planned onshore power transfer will be carried out partly in the immediate vicinity of the connection infrastructure corridor of the Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 projects, which Equintor and Polenergia are also developing in the Baltic Sea.
Together Baltyk 1, 2 and 3 will have a capacity of 3GW.
Baltyk 1 will be located approximately 80km from the coastline.
President of the management board of Equinor in Poland Michal Jerzy Kolodziejczyk said: “We actively participate in the country’s energy transformation, developing offshore wind energy so that Poland can use energy produced from renewable sources.
“We have the highest quality technologies and solutions that we implement in our projects.”
So far, Baltyk I has obtained a permit to lay and maintain cables in the offshore portion, as well as a network connection agreement with the transmission system operator.
