Ocean Breeze’s 400MW Bard Offshore 1 wind farm has generated more than 2TWh of electricity, the first offshore wind farm in Germany to reach that mark.
The project, situated some 100km northwest of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea, has generated some 700GWh from January to October this year. In October alone, it produced some 100GWh of electricity.
The 80-turbine wind farm has been operating at full capacity since early summer.
Output from Bard Offshore 1 has been limited in the past two years since it entered commercial operation due to problems with the link to the 400MW BorWin1 grid hub.
A software-based security patch installed in late 2014 reanimated the project and stabilised output from the wind farm.
