Repairs are under way once again at the 30MW Block Island offshore wind project in Rhode Island.
Developer Deepwater Wind told state regulators this week there is an issue with the cable connection for turbine number two, the same machine damaged earlier by a drill bit left inside the generator, Coastal Resources Management Council spokesperson Laura Dwyer told reNEWS.
Turbine supplier GE completed those repairs in early February after technicians replaced 26 magnets in the nacelle of a Haliade 150 6MW turbine.
The latest problem is expected to be resolved and the turbine restarted within days.
The other four turbines continue to operate and are delivering power to offtaker National Grid.
On Block Island meanwhile work continues to interconnect the local electricity system to the mainland grid. Testing, offtake contracts and cable work is expected to be completed by early May.
